In preparation for the Halloween candy exchange I’m sure you are buying bags of candy and dusting off your decorative bowls.  I must admit, I’ve never been a big lover of Halloween, but always enjoyed the chocolate.  However, candy just doesn’t taste like it used to.   It’s probably half psychological since I know what the ingredients are and half true taste as ingredients have shifted to lower quality alternatives.  But never fear, this season there are some really cool treats, even for the refined chocolate palate.

For the Kiddies (& adults too)

New to the scene, UnrealTMunjunks conventional candy concepts, eliminating common cheap ingredients such as hydrogenated oils, corn syrup, GMOs, artificial colors, flavors and preservatives.  The concept was born from one hip 13 year old (Nicky) whose father confiscated his Halloween candy because it wasn’t good for him.   Nicky did some investigation of his own, and once he realized his father was right, he set out on a mission to make a change.  Nicky, his brother Kris and dad linked up with top Spanish chef, Adam Melonas and the team gathered up scientists and chefs all across Europe to recreate American candy without the junk.  Not only was it important for them to create a new and improved candy, but they also thought it was necessary to be responsibly sourced, supporting farmers and preventing rainforest destruction.

We adore Unreal54 (candy coated chocolate covered peanuts), lovingly colored with beetroot juice, turmeric root extract and purple cabbage juice (and no you don’t taste cabbage when eating these).  Additional items include Unreal41 (candy coated chocolates), Unreal5 (chocolate caramel nougat bar), Unreal8 (chocolate caramel peanut nougat bar), and Unreal77 (chocolate peanut butter cups).  All of these are priced comparably with their conventional counterparts, which makes eating unjunked economical for all.  An added bonus?  These candies contain 30% less sugar, 60% more protein, and 250% more fiber per serving, on average compared to other leading brands.

I really want to meet their promotion team also, because they created an awesome launch video featuring shining endorsements from Matt Damon, John Legend, Dr. Mark Hyman, Twitter founder-Jack Dorsey and Gisele Bundchen (with hubby Tom Brady).

How do you unjunk and get UnrealTM (and perhaps feel a little like Jason Bourne)?  Well, you can start stocking up your Halloween bowl by entering this exclusive Hip & Healthy Kids giveaway for a 5-pack (one of each candy pictured above) so you can try them all.
